Rachael E. Putnam
With twenty years of legal experience in complex family law litigation and an active appellate practice, Rachael is exactly the attorney you want on your side. Rachael was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from the University School of Nashville, attended Boston University, and graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science. Rachael received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Memphis. While in law school, Rachael clerked for Judge Hamilton Gayden, Circuit Court Judge of Davidson County. Rachael practiced for nine years in a small firm before she started her own law practice in 2010. She has grown the practice in both Tennessee and Mississippi, with her primary focus on family law and civil litigation in both state and federal court. Rachael has also developed an active appellate practice.
She is licensed to practice in Tennessee and Mississippi. She is admitted to practice before the Tennessee Appellate Court, Tennessee Supreme Court, and the Appellate and Supreme Court of Mississippi, the United States District Court of the Western Section of Tennessee, the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit, the United States District Court for the Western Section of Arkansas, the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Nelson T. Rainey
A former U.S. Army sniper, Mr. Rainey sees problems you don’t from a thousand yards away, and with his extensive business and real estate litigation experience he can solve them for you with ease.
Nelson may have been born in Memphis, but has seen more of the world in his lifetime than most. Nelson graduated from Memphis University School and the University of Mississippi. While attending college, Nelson worked full-time managing his father’s construction company building new homes and managing rental units. Upon graduation from college, Nelson joined the U.S. Army as an infantryman. Nelson served as a member of his battalion’s sniper section for many years and is a graduate of the U.S. Army’s sniper school. He is a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Upon completion of his service, he attended the University of Memphis School of Law. While in school, Nelson clerked for Rachael until joining her full time as an associate.
Nelson’s practice areas include title, real estate, and contract litigation, as well as family, personal injury, and medical malpractice matters.
He is licensed in Tennessee.
John D. Woods III
With all the practiced storytelling ability of a national radio reporter and producer, John can tell exactly the story you need to help win your case.
John is a Memphis native and a graduate of Christian Brothers High School and a Rebel. John graduated from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphrey’s School of Law and practiced with an high-profile divorce-specialty firm in Memphis prior to coming to Putnam Firm in 2018. He handles family law litigation and appellate matters, labor and employment, contract litigation, and personal injury and medical malpractice cases.
John spent several years as a radio correspondent and editor for a national radio program that reached nearly ten million listeners. He is also a Judge Advocate General officer in the Tennessee Army National Guard.
He is licensed in Tennessee.
